Wow!
I got a new job this week… and it’s in Berkeley, California. I feel so transformed from my roots and my loyal commute in the vines.
Please accept my apologies for the “locals” reference. The title comes from a milk ad for Berkeley Farms and has little to do with this post.
Disclaimer made… I was offered a great job at a great company with great people… how great is that?
A very dear friend and mentor, whom I cannot thank enough, passed on my resume and got me a dream job. Also, this very dear friend passed on my resume to a person that offered me a job that took me from my wine country haven and into the big-little city. Shame on her!
My dilemma is what do you give to the person who gave you this great opportunity? The answer is WINE!
Maybe a 2003 V. Sattui Winery Duarte Old Vine Zin? (http://www.vsattui.com). Maybe a 2003 Mahoney Vineyards (Carneros) Pinot Noir? (http://www.mahoneyvineyards.com). A better choice may be a 2003 Roche Carneros Syrah? (http:/www.rochewinery.com). Perhaps a 2004 Chiarello Family Giana Zinfandel? (http://www.chiarellovineyards.com).
I could stop there, but I’m two short of a six-pack…
So the odd find in the group… a 2001 Baywood Cellars Grand Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon? An ugly label but a decent Cab. (http://www.baywood-cellars.com). Finishing with a 2003 Fleur Central Coast Petite Syrah which is a deal at $13.00 (http://www.fleurdecalifornia.com).
Yes, she gets them all…
So folks, I pulled these picks from my cellar for someone who found me a dream job. Try one or all, I am sure you will be happy with one or ALL.
Cheers!
